In 1995, Claudia Evart, a US citizen, after losing her brother (Alan) and sister (Lisette) at a very young age, on April 10 as Siblings' Day. In memory of his dead sister Lisette, whose birthday falls on April 10, Evart began to celebrate the day as Siblings' Day to honor the bond between the Siblings. Evart says he has dedicated his entire life to ensuring that the special bond between Siblings and sisters is always recognized as a special gift.

Siblings Day Foundation

Evart was so moved by the death of her Siblings that she founded the Siblings' Day Foundation. She has been the president of the Siblings' Day Foundation since then. The Siblings' Day Foundation was founded in 1997 and reached a non-profit status in 1999.

Widely celebrated in the United States but not federally recognized

Siblings' Day has been celebrated in 49 US states since 1998, but the day is not federally recognized in the United States. The Evart Foundation is working hard to make Siblings' Day a federally recognized holiday in the United States. The Siblings' Day Foundation also aims to make this day an international holiday with the help of the United Nations. Former presidents of the United States, including Barack Obama, have recognized the importance of the bond between Siblings and the need to celebrate this special bond.
